What got you into music?
Went to watch a friend playing at a folk club in town, and decided I wanted to learn guitar and play live at the same folk club. It did take me 12 years, but I did manage to do it!

Nearly 30 years now.

What’s the last book you read?
Don’t read books.

What’s your favourite song?

Does that come as some surprise?, a tribute to my late partner, Jane, closely followed by The Cage (Ballad of a Broken Bear), highlighting the cruel practice of keeping wild animals in cages.

Thin Lizzy performing Live and Dangerous.

Neither!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, no budget, where would you go?
Australia. I went to Sydney last year to stay with friends. I’d recommend it if you’ve never been.

Any advice for someone who wants to take up music/playing guitar?
Never give up. If you really want to do it, you will.

Any projects coming up/in the pipeline?
Hoping to gig the lockdown original songs at The Source café in Carlisle when things open up again.

You can catch Billy playing at Acoustic Edge this Sunday, June 28, at 6.15pm.
